After skating professionally for one season Sharon began coaching in the Kingston area over twenty five years ago. During this time Sharon has coached Provincial and National level athletes in all disciplines including some that have gone on to represent Canada and compete internationally.

Ms. Nixon is one of the most decorated coaches in the area. As a certified Level 4 NCCP National High Performance Coach, Sharon also enjoys working with local hockey players as a technical skating skills specialist.

In 2018 Sharon opened the Kingston Skating Academy (KSA) and boasts Kingston’s first CanSkate Excellence and CanSkate@School program.

In addition to coaching, Sharon is a Skate Canada learning facilitator, evaluator and developer. In this role Sharon travels extensively educating, mentoring and supporting the next generation of coaches.

Away from the rink Sharon owns and operates rental properties/air bnb and, on occasion, teaches courses related to deviance, crime and criminal justice at the local college and university.

Sharon resides in Glenburnie with her husband, two boys and 3 dogs! They enjoy the outdoors and the (slightly) slower pace of country living.
